The per diem rates 2026 (FY2026) ran from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026 and have expired. The current rates are FY2027 (from 1 October 2026): $113 for lodging and $68 for M&IE as the standard rate, see the GSA per diem rates FY2027.
The federal government sets rates for a fiscal year, not a calendar year, so travel from 1 October 2026 uses FY2027. This page opens on the FY2026 file so you can check a past trip, and a switch shows the current one. The FY2026 standard rate was $110 a night and $68 a day for M&IE, and 296 destinations had their own rates. Use the FY2026 numbers only for trips made before 1 October 2026.

How to find a 2026 per diem rate
- Decide which fiscal year your travel date falls in. Travel from January to 30 September 2026 uses FY2026. Travel from 1 October 2026 uses FY2027. A trip that crosses 1 October uses both, night by night.
- Type the city, county or state in the box and pick the destination. The table shows the FY2026 lodging rate for each season and the M&IE rate.
- Read the line under the card: it compares the destination’s highest lodging rate in FY2026 with the one in FY2027.
- To see the current rates, change the fiscal year to 2027.
- To price a whole trip, including one that crosses 1 October, open the per diem calculator: it picks the right file for every day.
- If you want to compare years for a whole region, use the state list under the result: it shows the lowest and highest lodging rate of every destination in the state for the fiscal year you chose.

Are the 2026 per diem rates still valid?
FY2026 rates expired on 30 September 2026. If you travel today, use FY2027. If you are filling in an expense report for an earlier trip, use the file that was valid on the day you stayed, which for anything between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026 is FY2026. The page shows a warning in the results because the rates are past their expiry date, and the sources page gives the dates.
What were the FY2026 standard rates?
$110 a night for lodging and $68 a day for M&IE, so $178 a day for a destination that is not listed. For FY2027 the standard lodging rate is $113, a rise of $3, and M&IE stayed at $68. The M&IE of the 294 destinations that appear in both files did not change for any of them.
Which destinations were the most expensive in FY2026?
By each destination’s highest season: Park City, UT $483; Nantucket, MA $471; Martha’s Vineyard, MA $462; Key West, FL $436; Jackson / Pinedale, WY $420. The same five are the top five in FY2027, at $499, $487, $473, $452 and $441.
What changed between FY2026 and FY2027?

Search a destination to see its own two rates.
How many destinations had their own rate in FY2026?
296 destinations with 649 rate rows. 139 of them had a single rate for the whole year; the rest had two to five seasons. M&IE levels were $68 for 17 destinations, $74 for 71, $80 for 104, $86 for 71 and $92 for 33.
Which rates apply to a trip that crosses 1 October 2026?
Both. The nights up to and including 30 September 2026 use the FY2026 rate and the nights from 1 October 2026 use FY2027. For a destination whose rate rose, as it did in 258 of 294 cases, the trip is a little more expensive after the change. The per diem calculator prices each night with the file that covers it, so you do not have to split the trip by hand.
How this tool works and where the numbers come from
The tool reads the GSA flat file for fiscal year 2026 and the one for 2027, both for the continental United States. Fiscal year 2026 runs from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, so rates for travel in the calendar year 2026 come from FY2026 until 30 September and from FY2027 after that. Each destination card compares its highest lodging rate in the two files.
