The GSA per diem rates for FY2027 (1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027) set the standard at $181 a day: $113 for lodging plus $68 for meals and incidentals. 295 destinations have a higher rate; search any city below.
These per diem rates are the maximum daily amounts the U.S. government allows for lodging and for meals and incidental expenses (M&IE) on travel in the continental United States. Each card shows every seasonal row of the destination with its dates, the M&IE rate and its split into meals. The FY2026 rates ran from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026; use the fiscal-year switch to see either year. A destination that is not listed gets the standard rate.

How to look up a GSA per diem rate
- Type a city, county or state in the box. Pick the destination from the suggestions, for example Chicago or Jackson / Pinedale.
- Read the table. Each row is a season with its own lodging rate; the M&IE rate is the same all year at every destination in the file. The line under the table splits M&IE into meals.
- If your city is not in the suggestions, search for its county. The file says that cities not listed may be in a listed county, and a place that is in neither gets the standard rate: $113 for lodging and $68 for M&IE in FY2027.
- To see everything in one state, use the state list under the result. It shows the lowest and highest lodging rate of each destination and the counties it covers.
- Change the fiscal year to compare with FY2026. The note under each card gives the change in peak lodging.
- Read any yellow note above the card.

What does the GSA per diem rate include?
Two amounts. Lodging is the most a federal traveller can be reimbursed per night for the hotel room, not including taxes. M&IE is a fixed daily amount for meals and incidental expenses such as tips. It comes in five levels in the file: $68, $74, $80, $86 and $92 a day. In FY2027, 17 destinations have the $68 level, 70 have $74, 104 have $80, 71 have $86 and 33 have $92. On the first and last day of a trip only 75% of M&IE is paid. The M&IE page has the split by meal.
What is the standard CONUS rate?
Every county in the continental U.S. that is not listed separately uses the standard rate. For FY2027 that is $113 for lodging and $68 for M&IE, a total of $181 a day. It was $110 and $68 in FY2026. The file lists 295 destinations with a higher rate, all with lodging above the standard.
Which destinations have the highest lodging rates in FY2027?
Counting each destination’s highest season: Park City, UT $499; Nantucket, MA $487; Martha’s Vineyard, MA $473; Key West, FL $452; Jackson / Pinedale, WY $441; Aspen, CO $419; Vail, CO $417; Telluride, CO $367. Resort towns are expensive in their peak season and cheaper outside it: 146 destinations have a single rate for the whole year and the other 149 have two to five seasons.
How did the rates change from FY2026 to FY2027?
The standard lodging rate rose by $3. Of the 294 destinations that appear in both files, 258 have a higher peak lodging rate in FY2027, 18 have the same and 18 have a lower one. Search any destination to see its own change.
Are Alaska, Hawaii and foreign countries in these rates?
No. The GSA file covers only the continental U.S. Alaska, Hawaii and the U.S. territories have separate rates set by the Department of Defense, and foreign rates are set by the State Department. The destinations are not in the file we load, so this page does not guess them. For German allowances see per diem rates in Germany.
Who can use the GSA rates?
They bind federal employees. Many companies and the self-employed use them as a reference because they are public and are accepted for business travel in many cases, but the IRS rules for the self-employed differ: see the per diem calculator for the version based on IRS Publication 463.
How are the seasonal lodging rates listed?
Each row has a start date, an end date, a lodging rate and an M&IE rate. The rows of one destination cover the whole fiscal year from 1 October to 30 September without a gap. The search shows them in date order, so the one that applies to your night is the row whose dates include it. Washington DC and Chicago have five rows, Denver and Atlanta three, and 146 destinations just one.
How this tool works and where the numbers come from
The tool reads the GSA flat files for the continental United States (CONUS), one for each fiscal year, converted without changes to JSON. A search matches the destination name, the counties it covers and the state. A destination that is not in the file gets the standard CONUS rate. The change line compares the highest seasonal lodging rate of the destination in the two files.
